titleOfInvention | Method and device for the iontophoretic delivery of a drug |
abstract | An iontophoretic drug delivery device storage apparatus (20) and a method of using that device is disclosed. The device (20) comprises a fluid reservoir (58), an electrode assembly (26) and a tray apparatus (22). The fluid reservoir (58) is capable of retaining a medicament and has a sealed fluid chamber () defined by at least one seal (54 or 56). The seal (54 or 56) includes a weaker region (66) and a pinch-like configuration (62) associated with that region such that application of pressure to the fluid reservoir (58) breaks the weaker region (66) of the seal (54), releasing the retained medicament. The electrode assembly (26) comprises an active electrode (78), at least two passive electrodes (80), a medicament carrying region, and a moat region (94) around the medicament carrying region so that once fluid is delivered from the fluid reservoir (58) to the electrode assembly (26) the fluid is substantially retained in the medicament carrying means (76). |
