abstract Airway resistance regulatory agents comprising a sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptor controller. Since airway obstruction is accelerated by the inhalation of S1P, an S1P receptor antagonist lowers the airway resistance and thus is useful in treating and preventing bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Also, a system with the use of an S1P receptor agonist is useful in screening an S1P receptor antagonist.
