titleOfInvention |
Identification of living microorganisms, eukaryotic cells or organelles |
abstract |
The invention relates to a device and a method for identifying living microorganisms, eukaryotic cells or organelles in a sample volume. The invention is especially suitable for the identification of living cells of the genus Salmonella. The aim of the invention is to reduce the time and costs required for the identification of living microorganisms, eukaryotic cells or organelles, while at the same time allowing for a high accuracy of the identification method. For this purpose, particles are used that can be magnetized and on whose surfaces binding molecules specific for at least one microorganism, eukaryotic cells or organelles are bound. The particles that can be magnetized are added to the sample volume in order to locally concentrate it using a permanent magnet or solenoid. At least one sensor for determining substance concentrations that change depending on the metabolism or the production of metabolites in the microorganisms, eukaryotic cells or organelles is used for identification. |
