Double-layered-hollow membrane for bioreactor applications |
abstract |
The invention relates to a membrane comprising a double-layered membrane wall, the layers thereof being made from different polymers or polymer mixtures and the surface thereof being compatible with blood whereas the other surface thereof is compatible with tissue. Said membrane can be obtained by, producing in a separate manner a first polymer solution containing a blood compatible polymer and a second polymer solution containing a tissue compatible polymer by dissolving the respective polymers in a solution in such a manner that both polymer solutions remain in a homogenous state in the form of polymer solution mixtures; both of the polymer solutions are brought into contact together in the nozzle of an extruder, forming a layer-shaped polymer solution compound and simultaneously extracting the compound in said form from the nozzle of the extractor; the polymer solution compound is extruded in a coagulation bath and is immersed in a phase inversion, extracting at least partially and in a known manner the components not formed by the membrane on the formed double-layered membrane and, if necessary, treating the remainder. The inventive membrane is preferably a hollow membrane. Said membrane can be used as a support membrane for biohybrid organs. |
