abstract A method, system and test strip for detecting photosynthesis inhibition in substances by providing cells or parts of cells with an intact photosystem, inserting said cells or cell parts into a planar layer, placing the test substance on the planar layer or inside the planar layer, exciting the luminescence of the cells or cell parts in the planar layer by an exciting light source, measuring the luminescence of the cells or cell parts in the planar layer by means of a detector and associating the detector signal with the degree of photosynthesis inhibition.
