It is intended to provide a magnetic particle membrane-specific protein Mms16 originating in a magnetic bacterium (Magnetospirillum sp.) AMB-1; a DNA encoding it; and a sandwich immunoassay method, medicinal compositions, etc. with the use of the same. A disrupted cell suspension of the magnetic bacterium is divided into three fractions, i.e., a cell membrane fraction, a magnetic particle membrane fraction and a cytoplasm fraction. Then SDS-PAGE profiles of these proteins are compared with each other and thus the novel protein Mms16 specific to the magnetic bacterial particle membrane is identified. Further, the amino acid sequence of this protein and the base sequence of the gene encoding this protein are determined and it is confirmed that this protein shows a GTPase activity. |
