abstract An optical material which can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays including the long-wavelength region, has a low specific gravity, and is well-balanced among performances including impact resistance and heat resistance; lenses; and a composition useful as the raw material of the optical material. The composition comprises a polymerizable monomer component consisting of a di(meth)acrylate of the general formula (1) and a monomer (M) having at least one vinyl group in the molecule exclusive of those of the general formula (1) and an additive component which is selected from the group consisting of the following components (A1), (A2), and (B) and mixtures of them, with the provisos that at least either of components (A1) and (B) must be contained and that when a component (B) is contained, at least either of components (A1) and (A2) must be simultaneously contained: (1) [wherein R is CH¿3? or the like; Ph is phenylene; x and z are each an integer of 1 to 5; and y is 0 or 1] (A?1¿): chlorinated benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbers, (A2): chlorine-free benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbers, and (B): dyes having absorption maximum wavelengths of 520 to 650nm.
