Process for producing d-serine |
abstract |
A process for producing D-serine characterized by comprising bringing cells of a microorganism, which has been modified so as to exhibit an L-serine deaminase activity higher than the L-serine deaminase activity of Escherichia coli DH5a strain, or an optionally treated culture of these cells into contact with DL-serine in a medium containing DL-serine to thereby decompose L-serine and then collecting the remaining D-serine from the medium; and a microorganism relating to this production process. D-Serine is a compound which is useful as an intermediate in synthesizing useful drugs such as D-cycloserine. |
