titleOfInvention Helical orthopedic fixation and reduction device, insertion system, and associated methods
abstract The invention relates to a system for repairing a tear in a soft tissue and comprising a helical fastening element biased in a predetermined pitch. A generally helical hollow insert is adapted to receive at least a distal portion of the attachment in a corresponding lumen. On a central part, the pitch of the insertion element is greater than that of the fixing element. Said insertion element can be inserted by screwing from one edge to the other of the tear in the soft tissue, then positioned so that its central part forms a bridge at the level of this tear. The positioning of this central part allows the fixing element to contract after the removal of the insertion element so as to bring the edges of the tear together, which can then heal. The invention also relates to an orthopedic system intended to stabilize two spaced sections of a bone and comprising an elongated guide element as well as a spiral element provided with an axial lumen allowing the winding of said spiral element on the guide element . This spiral element is biased outward so as to fix two sections of a bone in a desired spaced orientation.
