abstract | The invention provides a method for attenuating the aggregation and/or activation of blood platelets within a blood product. In accordance with the this method, a cannabinoid or resorcinolic compound is introduced into the blood product under conditions sufficient to inhibit the aggregation and/or activation of blood platelets within the blood product. The invention also pertains to he use of a cannabinoid or resorcinolic compound to prepare a composition suitable for inhibiting the activation and/or aggregation of blood platelets and to such compositions. The invention also pertains to a method of selectively inhibiting COX-1 and thromboxane synthase within a cell or blood platelet. |
