abstract |
A process for producing a polycarbonate, characterized by compounding 100 parts by weight of a polycarbonate obtained by subjecting a carbonic diester and a dihydroxy compound to melt polycondensation in the presence of an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal catalyst with 0.0001 to 0.1 part by weight of a phosphite compound represented by the following general formula (I): (I) wherein R represents hydrogen, C1-18 alkyl or aryl, or C1-8 hydroxyalkyl, provided that not both of the R's are hydrogen. By the process, a polycarbonate molding material can be obtained which has an excellent hue and is usable in a wide range of applications such as optical materials. |
