An electrode material for an electrochemical element which comprises a composite material of a metal oxide and electroconductive material particles and may be obtained through adding the electroconductive material particles to a colloid liquid of an oxide of a metal element belonging to Group 3 to 12 of the forth to sixth period of the Periodic Table, followed by mixing and dispersing, and subjecting the resultant dispersion to a heat treatment. The composite material exhibits a high capacity even under conditions of a high current density and has excellent filling characteristics, and thus is suitable for use as an electrode material of an electrochemical element such as a lithium secondary cell, an electrochemical capacitor or the like. Further, the use of the electrode material comprising the composite material permits the preparation of an electrode with no use of a binder, which leads to the manufacture of an electrochemical element having excellent output characteristics. |
