A ceramic filter for capturing particulates in an exhaust gas from a diesel engine, characterized in that the surface of the ceramic filter is coated with a ceramic particle layer comprising heat-resistant ceramic particles wherein the heat-resistant ceramic particles have a BET specific surface area of 300 m2/g or less. The ceramic filter allows the suppression of the erosion thereof by the ash, which remains and accumulates after captured particulates are burned, without the use of an extensive system or the like. |
