titleOfInvention Immunogenic helicobacter surface proteins and their use
abstract An isolated or recombinant immunogenic Helicobacter species surface protein selected from the group consisting of immunogenic H. pullorum, H. bilis and H. hepaticus surface proteins, and obtainable by cultivating the respective Helicobacter sp. bacteria in vitro, isolating the cultivated bacteria, releasing surface proteins by extraction with acid glycine or water, removing the bacteria, and subjecting the obtained protein mixture to separation by a two dimensional immunoblot gel-electrophoresis (2-DE) and identifying specific immunogenic proteins from each Helicobacter species after cross-absorption by two dimensional 2- DE immunoblotting, followed by isolation of the immunoblotting, followed by isolation of the immunogenic protein and optionally sequencing of the protein followed by recombinant production of the protein, is described. Further, the use of surface proteins or mixture thereof as diagnostic antigens in immunodiagnostic tests, two methods of in vitro diagnosing liver, pancreas and bile tract diseases/ syndromes, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), caused by Helicobacter species or related species, and an antibody raised against a disclosed surface protein, are described.
