A method for producing a honeycomb structure wherein a mixed raw material containing a raw material powder and a binder is added with water and then the resultant mixture is subjected to kneading to prepare a plastic mixture, the plastic mixture is formed into a honeycomb form, the resulting green honeycomb structure is dried in a process involving hot-air drying, and the resultant dried honeycomb structure is burned, characterized in that the binder comprises hydroxypropyl methylcellulose as a main component. The method allows the production of a high quality honeycomb structure being free of cracks with rapidity and at a low cost. |
