The present invention relates t o the use of a compound or a plurality of compounds that inhibit function of Hsp90; or activate expression of both Hsp40 and Hsp70 for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of a disease associated with protein aggregation and amyloid formation. Preferably, said compound is geldanamycin. The present invention relates further to methods of producing compounds within proved potency and/or decreased side-effects that may be successfully employed as medicaments for the treatment of said diseases. |
