Mitral valve therapy assembly and method |
abstract |
An assembly for effecting the condition of a mitral valve (12) of a heart (10) includes a mitral valve therapy device (30), a guide wire (50), and a guide tube (54). The mitral valve therapy device (30) is configured to reshape the mitral valve annulus (20) of the heart (10) when placed within the coronary sinus (14) adjacent the mitral valve annulus (20). The guide wire (52) is configured to be fed into the coronary sinus (14) of the heart (10) adjacent the mitral valve annulus (20). The guide tube (54) has a distal end (37), a proximal end (59), and a lumen (55) extending between the distal end (57) and the proximal end (59). The guide tube (54) further includes a side port (58), intermediate the distal (57) and proximal ends (59) which communicates with the lumen (55). This permits the guide tube (54) to be slidingly received on the guide wire (52) with the guide wire (52) extending from the distal end (57), through the lumen (55), and out the side port (57). In use, the guide tube (54) is slid along the guide wire (52) into the coronary sinus (14). The mitral valve therapy device (30) is then delivered by the guide tube (34) into the coronary sinus (14) adjacent the mitral valve annulus (20). |
