The invention relates to an optical data carrier containing a preferably transparent substrate that is optionally already coated with a reflecting layer. An information layer, which can be written with light, optionally, a reflecting layer and, optionally, a protective layer or another substrate or a covering layer are applied to the surface of the preferably transparent substrate. The optical data carrier can be written and read with blue, red or infrared light, preferably with laser light, whereby the information layer contains a light-absorbing compound and, optionally, a binding agent. The optical data carrier is characterized in that the light-absorbing compound comprises at least two identical or different chromophoric centers, and at least an absorption maximum ranging from 340 to 820 nm. |
