A method for producing an inorganic porous material, characterized in that it comprises preparing an aqueous medium solution containing water glass as a silica source, a water-soluble polymer and an acid, allowing a phase separation and a gelation to proceed simultaneously in the solution, to form a gel in a wet state, washing the gel, and then drying it. The method allows the production of a porous silica having through holes of fine pores being mutually connected, by the use of water glass easily available as a silica source, and also the control of the pore diameter of the resultant silica to a desired size. |
