A composite material coated steel pipe which comprises a steel pipe and, formed on the outer surface thereof, a coating layer, wherein the coating layer comprises an composite material comprising an Al matrix and, dispersed therein, Al particles coated with a ceramic film comprised of Al2O3, MgO, MgO.Al2O3, Mg3N2 or the like, or such Al particles and ceramic composite particles comprised of BN, B4C, C or the like. The steel pipe coated with the composite material has on its outer surface a coating layer which not only is excellent in the resistance to corrosion and thermal shock, but also has good thermal conductivity, and thus can be suitably used for a heat exchanger used in a waste heat boiler for recovering heat from an exhaust combustion gas. |
