The present invention relates to a virus of a novel type that is associated with a novel disease, called Bovine Wasting Syndrome. Also the invention relates to diagnostic tools for the detection of this virus, the Bovine Wasting Syndrome associated Virus BWSAV, and to diagnostic tools for the detection of antibodies against this virus. Furthermore, the present invention relates to vaccines comprising the virus and to vaccines comprising antibodies against this virus. Also, embodiments of the invention relate to methods for the production, the attenuation and the inactivation of the virus and to methods for the production of the vaccines. Finally, further embodiments relate to the virus for use in a vaccine and to the use of the virus for the manufacture of a vaccine. |
