abstract |
A high pressure phenolic resin is impingement mixed with a low pressure acid stream in a mixing head (1) to form a phenolic insulating foam reactant mixture. The mixing head has two oppositely directed high pressure inlet ports (2, 3) each connected to a phenolic resin stream at a pressure of at least 140 bar. Acid at a pressure of about 3 bar is drawn into the mixing head (1) through an inlet port (6). The mixing head (1) may be mounted on a lay-down traversing poker (10) to form a phenolic insulating body such as a composite panel. |
