The invention relates to a food item, preferably a bar of chocolate, that has a phosphatidyl serine content of 100 mg to 300 mg and a relatively high carbohydrate content. The combination of phosphatidyl serine and carbohydrates allows for both for a short-term and a long-term increase in cognitive capacity in individuals approximately as of the age of 40, especially when the food item is consumed regularly. |
