titleOfInvention | Folded compact tampon applicator |
abstract | An applicator system includes a tubular insertion member and a linearly-biased expulsion member having a first end slideably fitted within the tubular insertion member. The expulsion member extends out of the gripper end of the tubular insertion member, and terminates in a second end. An expulsion member restraint is capable of restraining the second end of the expulsion member in a bent configuration proximate the insertion end of the tubular insertion member. A method of delivering an object includes: releasing the expulsion member restraint to permit the expulsion member to attain a substantially linear configuration; inserting the insertion end into the body cavity; applying force on the second end of the expulsion member to move it into the tubular insertion member; expelling the object out of the tubular insertion member and into the body cavity; and removing the applicator from the body cavity. |
