A luminous element comprising a luminous region arranged between one pair of electrodes, wherein the luminous region contains, in a mixed form, (A) a luminous material, a compound capable of transporting an electric charge continuously and durably, and a heavy metal, or (B) a compound capable of transporting an electric charge continuously and durably which contains a moiety conducting the transportation of the charge and also a moiety conducting the emission of light, and a heavy metal; and a display using a plurality of the above luminous elements. The luminous element exhibits high efficiency for light emission, is more easy in the synthesis of a luminous material as compared to an element doped with a heavy metal complex, which has been widely researched recently, exhibits reduced extinction at a high concentration, and allows the stable production of organic thin film electroluminescence elements having uniform quality. |
