abstract The present invention relates to methods of screening treatments for the inhibition of proteolytic enzyme activity for cleavage of a transmembrane domain of a polypeptide of interest. Such methods may be utilized to screen for the inhibition of proteolytic enzyme activity for cleavage of one specific transmembrane domain of a polypeptide or of multiple transmembrane domains of a polypeptide for identification of an enzyme inhibitor that is specific for one substrate, yet does not act upon another substrate.
