abstract |
An infant incubator (12) of the type having an enclosure (17) within which the infant (44) is held and an air circulation system (30) with a heater (32) and a motor (38) driven blower (36) is disclosed. An adaptive motor speed controller (10) having a sensor (52) providing an indication of the stability of the temperature of the infant (44) is coupled to the blower motor (38) and controls the motor speed at least in part based on the stability of the temperature of the infant (44). While the infant's temperature is stable, the motor speed is reduced within limits. |
