abstract The invention relates to an opaquely tinted, antimicrobially finished, biaxally oriented, semi-crystalline film whose thickness ranges from 1 to 500 mu . The inventive film contains as the main component an antimicrobial component and at least one color pigment in addition to a crystallizable thermoplastic. The antimicrobial component used is 2,4,4,'-trichloro-2'-hydroy-dipenylether ( triclosan ) alone or in admixture with other antimicrobial substances. Depending on the intended purpose, the film can be additionally functionalized, that is it can be UV-stabilized, flame-retardant, sealable, coated on one or both sides, or corona and/or flame-treated. The invention further relates to a method for producing said film and to the use thereof.
