A process of preparing 4,6-dialkoxy-1,3,5-triazine-2- halide by reacting a cyanuric halide with an alcohol such as methanol in the presence of an alkali such as sodium hydrogencarbonate, characterized in that the amount of water present in the reaction system at the beginning of the reaction is adjusted to 0.5 mol or below per mol of the cyanuric halide or that the amount of water present in the reaction system during the reaction is adjusted to 2.5 mol or below per mol of the cyanuric halide. According to this process, 4,6-dialkoxy-1,3,5- triazine-2-halide can be prepared in high yield. |
