abstract The instant invention discloses methods and compositions for the treatment of cancer. The invention relates methods and compositions for specifically targeting free radical accumulation as a means of preferentially eliminating neoplastic cells. The combination of an SOD inhibitor (2-methoxyestrdiol) with free radical-producing agents results in a means of eliminating tumor cells through the accumulation of intracellular superoxide anion.
