Provided is a process for production of a water-absorbent resin lowered in the content of residual monomers and soluble matter, namely, a process for producing a water-absorbent resin being a neutralization product (salt) by polymerizing a monomer component comprising acrylic acid and/or a salt thereof as the main component, characterized in that the acrylic acid is one obtained by gas-phase catalytic oxidation of propylene and/or propane and having a protoanemonin content of 10 ppm or below and that the neutralization degree of the resin is adjusted to 50 % by mole or above. |
