titleOfInvention | Tnf and ifn stimulated genes and uses therefor |
abstract | The present invention is directed to the identification of genes that are expressed at a higher level in certain TNF and IFN treated cells than in otherwise identical untreated cells. Genes that are expressed at a higher level in TNF and IFN treated cells than untreated cells ('TNF and IFN stimulated genes') are of interest, in part, because TNF and IFN can or could influence a wide range of cellular processes and responses for antiviral activity. The identified TNF and IFN stimulated genes and the proteins they encode can be used: 1) as therapeutic agents which modulate a cellular process or response that is influenced by TNF and IFN; 2) as targets for use in high throughput screening and the development of therapeutic agents which modulate a cellular process or response that is influenced by TNF and IFN; and 3) as markers which can be used to detect and monitor a cellular process or response that is influenced by TNF and IFN. |
