abstract A laundry detergent composition containing surfactant and builder also contains a low level (0.5 to 5 wt%) of alkali metal persalt bleach, and from 0.05 to 5 wt% of iminodisuccinate (IDS) or hydroxyiminodisuccinate (HIDS). The composition provides improved stain removal, and reduced in-wash fading of chlorine-sensitive dyes, in wash liquors containing hypochlorite ions.
