abstract The invention relates to particles having an opalescent effect. The size of said particles ranges from 5 mu m to 5000 mu m. The particles consist of monodisperse globules having a diameter of 50 nm - 2 mu m, the standard deviation being less than 5 % in a regularly arranged, three-dimensional densely packed structure according to domain. Said structure is mechanically stabilized by physical or chemical modification.
