The invention relates to a liquid-crystal medium containing a mixture of at least two compounds of the general formula (I): R1-Am-Bn-Z?1-C-Z2-D-R2¿, characterized in that the mixture contains a) 30-90 wt.- % of the compounds of the general formula (I) with Δε ≥ 9 (= highly polar compounds); b) 0-30 wt.- % of compounds of the general formula (I) with 1 < Δε < 9 (= polar compounds); c) 10-40 wt.- % of compounds of the general formula (I) with -1 ≤ Δε ≤ 1 (= neutral compounds); the sum of a), b) and c) adding up to 100 wt.- %. |
