abstract The invention relates to the area of medicine, in particular to antiviral and antibacterial drugs and also their use in treatment of infectious diseases. The aim of the invention is to create a preparation that is effective against DNA- and RNA-containing viruses of mammals, including humans, and may be used for the treatment of viral and bacterial diseases, such as AIDS, herpes simplex, encephamyocarditis, etc. The essence of the invention is that the pharmaceutical preparation, besides iodine, potassium or sodium iodide, sodium chloride, lithium chloride, synthetic water-soluble polymer, mono-, oligo-, polysaccharides and water, additionally contains halogenderivatives of natural compounds, particularly halogenderivatives of mono-, oligo- and polysaccharides. The preparation has a low toxicity and is an effective means for treatment of AIDS and associated opportunistic diseases.
