Use of a conventional binder containing a surfactant has been undesirable in that the surfactant remains in the resultant electrode coating film and the residual surfactant leads to an increase in internal resistance, deterioration of cycle characteristics, etc. in a cell system. The above problem was eliminated with an additive for electrodes which comprises an aqueous fluoropolymer dispersion stabilized with a surfactant which will not substantially remain in the electrode coating film after drying in electrode production. The surfactant may be a nonionic surfactant such as a polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene block polymer, an anionic surfactant containing a perfluoroalkyl or perchlorofluoroalkyl group, an amphoteric surfactant comprising an amine oxide, etc. |
