Novel hemostatic soluble cellulose fibers for treating wound, when applied to a bleeding wound, which absorb moisture therein and are easily dissolved to thereby assist the hemostatic effect and cell adhesion to the wound of blood platelets and fibrin contained in the blood. These hemostatic soluble cellulose fibers for treating wound are prepared by treating natural or regenerated cellulose fiber with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, carboxymethylating it by reacting with a monochloroacetic acid solution for a definite period of time in such a manner as to give a partial degree of substitution (degree of etherification) of hydroxyl in the glucose unit constituting the cellulose molecules of from 0.5 to less than 1.0, and applying or chemically bonding a coagulating protein fibrinogen, thrombin or blood coagulation factor XIII. |
