abstract The invention concerns a method for the production of a glazing pigment, wherein a multilayer film is produced by vacuum deposition of a base and the particles thus produced are fragmented into pigment particles of a desired size after the base is removed, whereby vapor deposition of a plurality of layers in separate locations is carried out inside an evacuable container and the base is moved along the vaporization sources. According to the invention, at least one carrier layer (A), especially a silicon oxide layer, and at least one metal oxide layer (B), especially a titanium oxide layer, are vapor-deposited on the base, especially a continuos metal strip.
