abstract A method for the absorption of carbon dioxide from the tidal air in anaesthetic apparatuses is described, whereby a respiratory lime is used, which is essentially free from sodium and potassium hydroxide, is essentially free of water, is free of a humectant and contains at least 20 % dry lithium hydroxide and/or lithium peroxide and further ingredients, which can be earth alkali hydroxides and/or inert adjuncts. The use of lithium hydroxide and/or lithium peroxide, in said method, is further disclosed and an anaesthetic device, which uses the disclosed method.
