abstract This invention has an object thereof to provide a method for producing an HIPE polymer which can prevent the HIPE from leaking, allow the formed HIPE including the opposite end parts thereof to acquire and retain an expected thickness, prevent the formed HIPE from failing to polymerize due to a decrease in an oxygen content, and allow the formed HIPE to retain a sheet such as an upper film. Such an object of this invention can be accomplished by a method for the production of a porous cross-linked polymer by the horizontal continuous polymerization of an HIPE, which comprises using weirs one each in the opposite end parts in the width direction of an HIPE supporting member to be used for the horizontal continuous polymerization of the HIPE.
