abstract Disclosed is a novel method for producing pyrone derivatives of general formula (I), wherein X<1> means halogenmethyl, whereby an acetoacetic acid derivative of general formula (II), wherein X<1> has the aforementioned meaning and X<2> means chlorine or bromine, is treated with Lewis acid and is subsequently converted into the desired product by means of water.
