Methods and apparatus for analyzing or processing an image for various measurement purposes. In one example, an automated easy-to-use image metrology system suitable for both specialist users (e.g., photogrammetrists, forensic scientists) and non-specialist users (e.g., general consumers or various non-technical professionals) processes one or more camera-generated images of a scene to provide actual position and/or size information associated with one or more objects of interest in the scene. In particular, in one example, an image metrology system employs novel machine vision techniques to automatically determine a variety of camera calibration information, including a position and an orientation of the camera relative to the scene, from which the system determines the position and/or size information associated with objects of interest in the scene. In another example, various image processing methods of the invention may be implemented in a network environment, such as in a client/server configuration. |
