abstract The invention relates to poly(arylene vinylenes) in which poly(arylphenylene vinylene) units are contained of which the phenylene unit carries another aryl-substituent in a manner that is para or meta to the first aryl radical, whereby the operative serviceable life in electroluminescent elements can be prolonged and the high electroluminescence efficiencies are maintained.
