A water canteen allowing for the disinfection of water contained therein has a window which is transmissive of ultraviolet (<290nm-400nm), visible (400nm-750nm) and infrared (750nm-⊃1500nm) electromagnetic radation. The canteen has a body, a neck and a screw cap, is made of any suitable robust material such as a rigid plastics material such as PET, PVC or polystyrene or metal, and typically has a capacity of 1 or 2 litres. A window is set or otherwise provided in a sidewall of the body, the window preferably occupying substantially the entire area of the sidewall but in any event at least half the area thereof. |
