The present invention relates to a cationic virosome that comprises at least one active fusogenic peptide that is a non-Sendai viral hemagglutinin, and wherein the virosome membrane comprises 5 to 30 % by weight, based on total lipids, of 1,3-dioleoyloxy-2-(6-carboxy-spermyl)-propylamide (DOSPER) in combination with other lipids comprising phosphatidylcholine (PC) or a derivative thereof and optionally phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and/or other cationic lipids. The virosomes are highly efficient in the delivery of negatively charged material, particularly nucleic acid compounds, to target cells. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of the virosomes and to uses thereof for diagnostic, cosmetic, medical or scientific purposes. |
