titleOfInvention | Glycosaminoglycan derivatives and utilization thereof |
abstract | Glycosaminoglycan derivatives or salts thereof which enable antithrombotic surface treatments on medical instruments with complicated structure or the whole systems to be brought into contact with blood and, when administered to patients with arteriosclerosis, can inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells to thereby prevent narrowing or obstruction of blood vessels such as coronary artery; and efficacious use thereof. These glycosaminoglycan derivatives are characterized in that a primary amine R-NH2 (wherein R represents optionally branched C4-37 alkyl, C4-37 cycloalkyl, optionally branched C4-37 alkenyl, C6-14 aryl or C8-20 aralkyl) is covalently bonded to the reducing terminal sugar moiety of glycosaminoglycan. |
