titleOfInvention | Brachytherapy catheter docking system |
abstract | Disclosed is a brachytherapy docking system (10) for protecting clinical personnel from exposure to radiation from a radiation delivery device. In one embodiment, the docking system (10) is made up of a radiation delivery catheter having a guide wire lumen, and positioned within a tubular housing (12) for surrounding the radiation delivery source. A docking stylet (40) is positioned within at least a portion of the guide wire lumen. The docking slylet may be coupled to the proximal end of a guide wire for rapid introduction of the radiation source over the guide wire, and into the patient. Methods of using the docking system are also included. |
