titleOfInvention Modulation of egr-1 and egr-2 in heart disease
abstract Methods are described for diagnosing coronary artery disease associated with ischemia by measuring the induction of early growth response factor-1 (Egr-1) and early growth response factor-2 (Egr-2) genes in nucleic acid samples from patients. Also described are methods of screening modulators of Egr-1 and/or Egr-2 induction. Further, forensic methods are described for determining ischemic related pathology. The figure 1A depicts an image of a READS gel demonstrating up regulation of human Egr-1 between RNA samples obtained from age and sex matched controls (first two lanes) versus heart failure patients (last five lanes).
