The invention relates to a novel block copolyester elastomer comprising hard segments derived from at least one alkylene glycol and at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and soft segments of a triblock copolymer containing one, optionally hydrogenated, polyalkadiene block and two poly(alkylene oxide) blocks. The novel block copolyester elastomer shows typical elastomeric properties and a very good water vapour permeability, but without the drawback of high water absorption. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the triblock copolymer from a polyalkadiene diol and at least one alkylene oxide, and to the use of the triblock copolymer as a soft segment in block copolymer elastomers. |
